repost 23/01/15 Black and white

          Black and White

Black and white volume one from out of step publications featuring some amazing art from some amazing artists. A massive thanks to jinxi Caddel for contacting me about this project. Since i was a kid iv experimented with lots of different mediums when creating my art but the majority has been black directly on white. My earliest memory of doing this in large volumes was when i was around the age of 15. Being in social situations like groups was always a little uneasy for me, i would always carry an a5 pad and fine liner pens where ever i would go. In situations where i would feel awkward, out came my pad and pens like my own little coping mechanism. I would never sketch first just straight out black, if i made mistakes it would force me to alter parts for my mistakes to go un-noticed. Since those days i now draw in many different ways but the most natural for me is still black on white. When i was contacted and asked if some of my black and white drawings could be used for a book along side many amazing artists it was a great feeling. From a young age iv dreamt of having my work published in books but confidence would always set me back. Iv always looked at the work i create and feel  its not ready or not good enough. I always feel i need to wait for when i improve enough that my work deserves this kind of reward. Having an amazing positive person like jinxi, who has worked with some of the most amazing artists over the years contact me about my work to be featured in her book is one of the biggest rewards i could ever ask for. For this i am forever grateful, . thank you jinxi and the team at out of step.... xvx power..

17/09/13 repost

repost from the 17th of the 9th 2013
… ill begin with, last year on many occasions I was stopped while walking over Hachiko crossing by Japanese stylists asking if I model or would be interested in modelling.. The answer being ‘no’.  I’ve always been shy in front of a camera so the idea of modelling would be like a nightmare to me.. Then after being asked again many times I thought why not?  But the dates were wrong and I was unable.  At the end of last years trip I was sat in Harajuku with my friend reo and was confronted by a Japanese stylist asking me to work and with reos help we managed to hook it up.  The whole experience was strange and made me feel a little anxious but it was an experience im glad I had. The pictures were for a street fashion magazine and I was wearing new era clothing. I had the pictures taken, got paid, and went on my way..  it was easy enough and something I thought I would do again if given the chance.
This year,, A few days ago I was approached by a dude in Shibuya. i had my photos taken and told that these pictures would be shown to his boss and if the photos got the thumbs up I would have work if I was interested.  I later received an email saying I have an audition with Fred Perry. This is a brand I like so thought why not.  I wasn’t sure what to expect in an audition, I thought I would be among other dudes picked off the street but couldn’t of been more wrong.
I arrived and was sat with professional models who do this for there living, they had full portfolios of work, were clean cut fresh looking lads with plenty of experience.  While sitting with these proper models I was asked the question’ how long have you been a model? Which I replied, ‘I’m not, I’m  just a normal dude.  We were then called up one by one. I was last up. While the guy before me was on his way out the door at least 20 of the most ridiculously hot female models came walking in only to stand and sit around while I had my audition.. I get called up and then have to strip into my boxers with all these un believable models sat watching.. some how I shrugged it off, took off my shit, tried on the Fred Perry gear while having my picture taken, and then was on my way..  it seemed to have gone well, I got called kakkoi(cool) a lot form the Japanese stylists so maybe they liked what there saw and maybe I, a none model might get the job over proper models, we’ll see.. either way was an interesting night and an absolute pleasure for my eyes to see such beautiful ladies sat in front of me, even if they were watching me undress..

Its been a long time since i've used this site but from today i will  use this blog more regular. i will still update my facebook but will use this blog as a way to express and share myself in a less robotic and more personal way.  as i write this it is 2-45am in Tokyo, so far i have been here for 3 weeks on my 3rd visit.  As usual japan has been amazing.. For me Japan is a great place to chill, site see and learn about every thing from art, culture, about people and about one's self. .   The opportunity's tattooing has given me over the last few years have been un real and i will forever owe the art of tattooing and every tattooer who contributes to it in a positive way. Thanks
